(Washington, D.C.)—Professor Areg Danagoulian and colleagues at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) were selected as the 2019 Arms Control Persons of the Year through an online poll that drew participants from over 100 countries. The annual contest is organized by the independent, nongovernmental Arms Control Association.

The Consortium for Monitoring, Technology, and Verification has selected the four doctoral fellows: Connor Awe, Edward Callaghan, Tyler Johnson, and Kristofer Ogren. More about the fellows can be found here and the announcement can be found below.
The $25 million grant will “foster development of concepts and technologies that keep the United States at the forefront of nuclear monitoring and verification capabilities and allow us to nurture tomorrow’s nonproliferation experts,” said Dr. Brent K. Park, NNSA’s Deputy Administrator for Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation.
