The Consortium for Monitoring, Technology, and Verification (MTV) hosted another successful workshop on February 25-27, 2025. This annual workshop highlighted the consortium research over the past year supporting the NNSA nuclear nonproliferation mission.
This year we welcomed 90 virtual registrants to view the MTV student presentations – 30 oral talks and 14 posters.
Each day the students had the opportunity to interact with the 13 national laboratories during virtual roundtable breakout rooms. These sessions allowed students to connect with the lab affiliates and ask questions regarding research opportunities, internships, and career paths.
There were two panels during the three-day workshop:
- The Consortia Impact Panel featured consortia alumni/soon-to-be graduates:
- Panelist: Cat Barker (UF) PhD Student; Eric Lepowsky (Princeton) at MIT Lincoln Lab; Jill Rahon (MIT) at U.S. Army/West Point
- Moderator: Michael Febbraro (U-M) at Air Force Institute of Technology
- The National Laboratory Panel featured national laboratory affiliates who were all consortia alumni:
- Panelist: Sean Martinson (TAMU) at Argonne National Laboratory; Kris Ogren (U-M) at Los Alamos National Laboratory; Felicia Sutanto (U-M) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory; Kelly Truax (UH) at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory
- Moderator: Meghan McGarry (UW) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
Student presentations were judged by national laboratory affiliates. This year’s best poster award went to Juliann Lamproe (U-M/LANL) and the best oral talk award went to Sarah Popenhagen (UH)!
Thanks to the virtual workshop participants for another successful event showcasing MTV students’ impressive research!
