The Detection for Nuclear Nonproliferation Group (DNNG) at the University of Michigan was thrilled to welcome 17 students from the WISE GISE summer day camp on June 19! WISE GISE is a summer program designed for rising 7th and 8th graders, offering a hands-on, engaging STEM experience that’s both fun and intellectually stimulating.
During their visit, students explored the exciting work happening in the DNNG Laboratory, including innovations in detecting and characterizing nuclear materials to support global nonproliferation efforts. The DNNG Lab activities provided students a hands-on introduction to cutting-edge tools and techniques used in real-world research, including experiments with a cloud chamber and a HoloLens-powered scavenger hunt!
We had a fantastic time sharing our work and inspiring the next generation of scientists!
